Parent Involvement

Junior Surf is Family Powered

Junior Surf is almost entirely volunteer-run and relies heavily on family support.

Parents and caregivers are expected to:

  • Remain at the beach during sessions
  • Supervise their children when not participating in activities
  • Assist coaches when requested
  • Help with age-group duties throughout the season

Ways You Can Help

No surf lifesaving experience is required. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Beach helpers
  • Water helpers
  • BBQ crew
  • Event support
  • Officials and timekeepers
  • Photography
  • Committee support
  • Coaching

Training and support are provided. If you are keen to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Email: juniorsurf@papamoalifeguards.co.nz

Keeping Everyone Safe

Safety is our highest priority. Children are signed in and accounted for at every session.

Sign In and Sign Out

It is important that coaches know where every child is at all times.

If your child leaves early, please notify their coach before departing.

Parent Supervision

Parents and caregivers must remain on-site throughout sessions.

After Junior Surf

Once sessions have finished, parents become fully responsible for supervising their children.

If swimming afterwards, we strongly recommend swimming:

  • Between patrol flags
  • Or directly in front of the club
