We're Hiring: Junior Surf Admin Support Role

Pāpāmoa Surf Life Saving Club is seeking an organised and enthusiastic person to join our Junior Surf team for the 2026/27 season in a new Junior Surf Admin, Volunteer Coordination & Communications Support role.

This paid part-time position offers a unique opportunity to help support one of New Zealand's largest Junior Surf programmes while making a meaningful contribution to our club community.

Working alongside our Junior Surf Chairperson, Committee, Programme Delivery Lead and Lead Lifeguards, the successful candidate will help coordinate volunteers, support programme administration and communications, and play an important role in keeping our Junior Surf community connected, informed and engaged throughout the season.

"Our Junior Surf Programme relies on an incredible network of volunteers, coaches, lifeguards and families. This role is all about supporting those people, helping them stay organised, informed and connected so they can focus on creating great experiences for our tamariki."

About the Role

With more than 450 Junior Surf participants, over 180 volunteers involved in weekly programme delivery, and a large team of coaches and surf lifeguards, strong communication and coordination are essential to the programme's success.

The Junior Surf Admin, Volunteer Coordination & Communications Support role will help:

• Coordinate and support volunteers involved in Junior Surf
• Assist with programme administration and planning
• Support volunteer engagement and retention initiatives
• Communicate with families and members
• Create and share social media content
• Promote training, development and volunteer opportunities
• Capture and share the stories, achievements and experiences that make Junior Surf special

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing people together, keeping things organised and supporting a vibrant community programme. No previous surf lifesaving or lifeguarding experience is required.

We're seeking someone who is:

• Highly organised and proactive
• A confident communicator
• Comfortable working with volunteers and families
• Passionate about community sport and youth development
• Positive, approachable and collaborative
• Interested in social media and community engagement

Previous experience in administration, volunteer coordination, communications, event support, sport, recreation or community organisations would be beneficial, but above all we're looking for someone who enjoys supporting people and making a positive contribution to their community.

The programme teaches water safety and surf lifesaving skills while helping young people build confidence, resilience, teamwork and lifelong friendships.

Hours & Remuneration

This is a seasonal, part-time position requiring approximately 4-7 hours per week during the season, including Sunday programme delivery, volunteer coordination, communications, administration and attendance at monthly committee meetings.

Remuneration will be discussed with suitable applicants.
